Think for a moment about the number
of signs you read today. Street signs,
traffic signs, store awnings, product
slogans....all deliver information efficiently
and unfeelingly. Wouldn't it be nice
to sneak in something a little more
personal? Enter Fortune Cookie Soaps.
The message doesn't have to be life-changing.
Everyone has a favourite line from the
Simpsons or knows a corny bumper-sticker
saying. Collect these sayings (or movie
quotations, thoughts from favourite
authors, lines from poems or songs)
and print them by hand or on the computer
onto small strips of paper. Embed them
in soap in one of two ways.
1.
Follow the directions above for making
Altered Soap.
Instead of an image or a flower, decoupage
the fortune onto the soap and coat with
paraffin.
2. Make your own glycerin soap. Kits
can be purchased at craft or specialty
soap-making stores. Fill the mold tray
with 1/4" layer of melted glycerin,
then place your fortune on top of that
layer. Do not move it around, or the
soap will become cloudy. Top off the
mold.
