What you'll need:
-
Crayons
- Candle wax
- Candle wicks or taper candle
- Milk carton
- Ice
- Saucepan (not your mom's good saucepan,
mind you)
Instructions:
- Cut the top off of the milk carton
so that you have a box - depth is up
to you
- The candle can be made totally out
of crayons, or you can just add a few
for colour
- Melt the wax over medium heat (you
can use plastic bags from your local
craft store too - these let you put
the crayons or the wax into the bag,
then into boiling water to melt - saves
a lot of clean-up)
- Place the wick or the taper candle
into the milk carton.
- If you are using a wick, make sure
it goes all the way to the bottom of
the carton. Try to keep it centered.
- Fill the carton with ice to hold the
wick or taper candle in place. Make
sure that the ice is fairly well crushed
(it holds better.)
- Pour the melted crayon/wax into the
carton. Fill to the top.
- Let it sit until it's hard, then peel
the carton away from the candle. Handle
your finished candle carefully - it's
delicate!
